Redoable 1.2 has just been released. Head to the Redoable homepage to find out whats new and to make sure you download the latest copy. enjoy.
Drum roll please Mr. Music, Redoable 1.1 is here! Ok, there a few reasons why it was delayed longer than first anticipated. The main reason was that I decided to hold off until WordPress 2.1 had been released so that I could make sure that it was compatible. In the last week I’ve spent a fair amount of time checking that everything works ok in both 2.0.x and 2.1. If you come across anything that you think isn’t working correclty just let me know.
The other major reasons were the number of bug fixes and new features that have been included in this release. Some of the new features include Livesearch now works, choice of two different single post layouts, and a preview of the dynamic style feature which allows you to change between dark and light colour schemes from the admin area.
On top of the extra features, support has also been added for several new plugins. More details about the features of Redoable 1.1 are included below. Also included is some information about upgrading and/or installing Redoable on your blog. If you’re ready to go you can download Redoable 1.1 now.

Keep reading for further details of the new features, bug fixes and plugin support that have been included in Redoable 1.1.
New plugin support
Support for these plugins has been added.
- iMP Download Manager — keep track of downloads from your site.
- Quoter — give usrrs the ability to quote text in the comments.
- Subscribe to Comments — allow users to subscribe to comments on posts and pages.
- Spam Karma 2 — defend against the evil spam overlords…
- wp-recent-links — keep a link log of sites that you visit.
Bug fixes
These are just some of the bugs that have been fixed in Redoable 1.1
- LiveSearch now works. It is suggested that if you are using Alex King’s Share This plugin, that you upgrade to the latest version which is 1.4.
- Numerous css fixes and changes to correct some alignment and positioning problems on selected pages. Including styles around the Gregarious plugin and the position of the Share This plugin.
- Due to the changes in the way that WordPress 2.1 handles categories for both links and posts, the sidebar and all modules using categories have been modified to work with both WordPress 2.0.x and WordPress 2.1
- An additional loop (searchloop.php) has been added to help with the handling of the LiveSearch results.
- Float problem with sidebar modules has been rectified.
New features
Features for everyone.
- LiveSearch, and the ability to display search results in either the body of your page or in the sidebar.
- The dynamic style option allowing you to choose between dark (default) and light colour schemes from the admin area.
- Additional support for the previously mentioned plugins.
- The option to choose between two different methods of displaying post meta data on the single post view. You have the option to display it the sam eas on the homepage with the meta data under the post title, or in a seperate column to the right hand side of the post.
- Addition of support for my Ultimate Category Cloud plugin on the Archives page, which will display a Coloured and Weighted cloud of your categories when the plugin is active.
- The search box will be displayed using the special Safari search box when using Safari. When not using Safari the search box will be styled differently, and in the case of Firefox users it will have a similar ’rounded’ look to the Safari search box.
For full details of all changes in this release please see the included changelog.txt with the Redoable 1.1 download.
Exisiting issues
- Some people are experiencing a problem where the comments and permalinks are all referring to the incorrect posts. As yet I have been unable to replicate this problem, and it doesn’t seem to happen on everyones blog. It could be related to the use of different permalink structures, but as yet I don’t have a solution for it.
- Sidebar overlap issue. This hasn’t been completely fixed but the sidebar will now overlap on top of the footer instead of disappearing behind it when there is only a small amount of page contents.
- LiveSearch doesn’t seem to work with custom permalinks. This has also been reported by other users of K2 (which Redoable is based on), but as yet no-one has had a good answer.
Installation
Download the zip file. Extract, then upload the Reodable 1.1 folder to your wp-content/themes folder on your web server. Goto the presentation section in your admin, and select Redoable 1.1. Set your options in the Redoable options panel. Enjoy.
Upgrade
It should be possible for you to upgrade from Redoable 1.0 to 1.1 by copying the new files over the old ones, however I recommend that you upload the Redoable 1.1 folder and leave your Redoable 1.0 folder intact. Upload the new Redoable 1.1 folder to your wp-content/themes directory on your web server, and then select Redoable 1.1 from the presentation menu in your admin area. Which ever method you choose, you should not lose any of your settings from Redoable 1.0, unless you choose the “uninstall” option. As always if you’re worried, just make a backup beforehand.
WordPress 2.1 Support
As mentioned I have tried my best to ensure that everything works ok with both WordPress 2.0.x and the new WordPress 2.1. The only thing that I highly recommend is that you check any of you exisiting plugins and update if there is a newer version available. Many plugin authors are in the process of updating their plugins to be WordPress 2.1 compatible.
Should you come across any compatibility problems with WordPress 2.1 (or WordPress 2.0.x) please leave a message in the Support forums, and I will try and fix it asap. In fact, if you come across any problems what-so-ever, leave me a message in the support forum and I will get back to you asap.
could you had a look at this flash cortex plug-in for the flash movies. I couldn’t get the shown right or is there a plug-in that you use?
Alex: I have just installed the Flash Cortex plugin on my test blog, you can see the results at the link below.
http://www.dev.deanjrobinson.com/newstuff/war/
It seems to work ok to me, although the control bar at the bottom of the Youtube video seems to flash a bit. Also it seems that wehn you change windows, and then come back to the window with the video in it, you have to hover over the video for the controls etc to show up.
To be honest, I’m not sure why it happening. I will have to investigate further.
Excellent theme. Thanks for sharing it
Hey dean.j.robinson,
could you had a look at this flash cortex plug-in for the flash movies. I couldn’t get the shown right or is there a plug-in that you use?
Thanks
This theme gets better with every upgrade. You’ve done a good job with it. BAM!
I have to ask how hard would it be to transfer it as a K2 style rather than a standalone theme, since I have some things I’d like to keep?
In its current form, there is really no easy way to transfer it as a K2 style. In theory it is possible, but it would require numerous changes to make it work, due to the number of changes that have been made in Redoable in the code and the way that it is structured. Sorry.
Awesome theme thanks for putting it out
I have to ask how hard would it be to transfer it as a K2 style rather than a standalone theme, since I have some things I’d like to keep?
That’s a fast feedback! Thank.
Alex: Thanks for the feedback. I have just downloaded the flash-cortex plugin and I will test it out to see what the issue could be.
Hi there,
great theme — I’m playing a little bit with it and I have problems with youtube-videos, the preview-pic is not showing. Could you imagine what the issue can be. I’m using the flash-cortex plug-in.
Thanks, and again: Great Theme!
Once I’ve entered a new link, it doesn’t appear until I publish a new entry. I don’t know if it’s a problem of the plugin or the code of theloop.php :( …
I have also experienced this, but it doesn’t happen all the time.
wp takes the link entry as a post? I mean, if I have configured wp to show 4 post in the main page, if I publish one link, wp will show the link and 3 more post, but not the link (or links) and the four entries… There is any way of solving this?
Yes, when I first installed this plugin I came across this very situation. I thought it was very annoying that it was counting links as posts. So I modified the plugin so that it wouldn’t count tham as posts.
Redoable is all ready to handle this, but I haven’t released my modified version of the plugin yet. I will try and get the plugin out in the next couple of days, which should solve your problem.
Great work!
But I have a little problem with the recent-links plugin:
Once I’ve entered a new link, it doesn’t appear until I publish a new entry. I don’t know if it’s a problem of the plugin or the code of theloop.php :( …
another issue with the same plugin: wp takes the link entry as a post? I mean, if I have configured wp to show 4 post in the main page, if I publish one link, wp will show the link and 3 more post, but not the link (or links) and the four entries… There is any way of solving this?
Thank you very much ;)
Thanks for the new release.
It works so far so good for me since the previous version.
LiveSearch doesn’t seem to work with custom permalinks.
Me either though.
BTW, do you have any plan to have an option|plan to support the K2-rollingarchives ?
Thanks for the fast reply! :)
I have done the span modification in the plugin and seems to work ok, thanks again ;)
I must to say that the archive page and sidebar integrated modules problem was in the 1.0 too. If I can do some testing for you tell me and I’ll help to you in testing the theme.
By the way, I have created a .mo spanish (es_ES) file for redoable, if you want to integrate in the package, send me an email and I’ll send the file to you.
But the ratings post in home page, is displayed below the author name, and not right after the number of comments…
Yes, I have actually modified the post ratings plugin very slightly. I have changed it so that the ratings are wrapped in a span tag instead of in a div tag to allow them to be displayed inline. That should be the only change needed to get it to move up next to the number of comments.
If you have any troble working this out let me know and I’ll post some instructions on what to modify in the plugin.
I can’t get working any of the sidebar integrated modules of Redoable. When I press in the ‘add module’ button, it simply reloads the module this and nothing happens in the sidebar.
I haven;t actually checked the sidebar modules since I uploaded the theme to my site, they were working on my local test install. I will check it out and get back to you.
And neither can’t create archive page, I have tryed sometimes but nothing happens :(
Again, haven’t tested this since I uploaded the latest version. But the code hasn’t changed since Redoable 1.0, so it could be WordPress 2.1 issue. Again I will check it and get back to you.
Forgot to say… I can’t get working any of the sidebar integrated modules of Redoable :(
When I press in the ‘add module’ button, it simply reloads the module this and nothing happens in the sidebar.
And neither can’t create archive page, I have tryed sometimes but nothing happens :(
Hi! Very nice theme! I use in my site ;)
But the ratings post in home page, is displayed below the author name, and not right after the number of comments…
You can check my blog to see it… why happens this? are you using a different version?
I would like to have it displayed like in your blog… :)
Wow. This is excellent! Thank you very much.
Thanks a lot for the direct link, I appreciate it. I’ve never tried the iMP Download plugin, I usually use ones that aren’t directly connected to WP, so I wouldn’t know.
The iMP Download plugin strikes again.…definitely time to find a replacement.
Here is the direct download link:

I seem unable to download the whole file, it always comes up corrupts. I also cannot redownload it, as it’s not allowing me to.
