Redoable 1.2 has just been released. Head to the Redoable homepage to find out whats new and to make sure you download the latest copy. enjoy.
Drum roll please Mr. Music, Redoable 1.1 is here! Ok, there a few reasons why it was delayed longer than first anticipated. The main reason was that I decided to hold off until WordPress 2.1 had been released so that I could make sure that it was compatible. In the last week I’ve spent a fair amount of time checking that everything works ok in both 2.0.x and 2.1. If you come across anything that you think isn’t working correclty just let me know.
The other major reasons were the number of bug fixes and new features that have been included in this release. Some of the new features include Livesearch now works, choice of two different single post layouts, and a preview of the dynamic style feature which allows you to change between dark and light colour schemes from the admin area.
On top of the extra features, support has also been added for several new plugins. More details about the features of Redoable 1.1 are included below. Also included is some information about upgrading and/or installing Redoable on your blog. If you’re ready to go you can download Redoable 1.1 now.

Keep reading for further details of the new features, bug fixes and plugin support that have been included in Redoable 1.1.
New plugin support
Support for these plugins has been added.
- iMP Download Manager — keep track of downloads from your site.
- Quoter — give usrrs the ability to quote text in the comments.
- Subscribe to Comments — allow users to subscribe to comments on posts and pages.
- Spam Karma 2 — defend against the evil spam overlords…
- wp-recent-links — keep a link log of sites that you visit.
Bug fixes
These are just some of the bugs that have been fixed in Redoable 1.1
- LiveSearch now works. It is suggested that if you are using Alex King’s Share This plugin, that you upgrade to the latest version which is 1.4.
- Numerous css fixes and changes to correct some alignment and positioning problems on selected pages. Including styles around the Gregarious plugin and the position of the Share This plugin.
- Due to the changes in the way that WordPress 2.1 handles categories for both links and posts, the sidebar and all modules using categories have been modified to work with both WordPress 2.0.x and WordPress 2.1
- An additional loop (searchloop.php) has been added to help with the handling of the LiveSearch results.
- Float problem with sidebar modules has been rectified.
New features
Features for everyone.
- LiveSearch, and the ability to display search results in either the body of your page or in the sidebar.
- The dynamic style option allowing you to choose between dark (default) and light colour schemes from the admin area.
- Additional support for the previously mentioned plugins.
- The option to choose between two different methods of displaying post meta data on the single post view. You have the option to display it the sam eas on the homepage with the meta data under the post title, or in a seperate column to the right hand side of the post.
- Addition of support for my Ultimate Category Cloud plugin on the Archives page, which will display a Coloured and Weighted cloud of your categories when the plugin is active.
- The search box will be displayed using the special Safari search box when using Safari. When not using Safari the search box will be styled differently, and in the case of Firefox users it will have a similar ’rounded’ look to the Safari search box.
For full details of all changes in this release please see the included changelog.txt with the Redoable 1.1 download.
Exisiting issues
- Some people are experiencing a problem where the comments and permalinks are all referring to the incorrect posts. As yet I have been unable to replicate this problem, and it doesn’t seem to happen on everyones blog. It could be related to the use of different permalink structures, but as yet I don’t have a solution for it.
- Sidebar overlap issue. This hasn’t been completely fixed but the sidebar will now overlap on top of the footer instead of disappearing behind it when there is only a small amount of page contents.
- LiveSearch doesn’t seem to work with custom permalinks. This has also been reported by other users of K2 (which Redoable is based on), but as yet no-one has had a good answer.
Installation
Download the zip file. Extract, then upload the Reodable 1.1 folder to your wp-content/themes folder on your web server. Goto the presentation section in your admin, and select Redoable 1.1. Set your options in the Redoable options panel. Enjoy.
Upgrade
It should be possible for you to upgrade from Redoable 1.0 to 1.1 by copying the new files over the old ones, however I recommend that you upload the Redoable 1.1 folder and leave your Redoable 1.0 folder intact. Upload the new Redoable 1.1 folder to your wp-content/themes directory on your web server, and then select Redoable 1.1 from the presentation menu in your admin area. Which ever method you choose, you should not lose any of your settings from Redoable 1.0, unless you choose the “uninstall” option. As always if you’re worried, just make a backup beforehand.
WordPress 2.1 Support
As mentioned I have tried my best to ensure that everything works ok with both WordPress 2.0.x and the new WordPress 2.1. The only thing that I highly recommend is that you check any of you exisiting plugins and update if there is a newer version available. Many plugin authors are in the process of updating their plugins to be WordPress 2.1 compatible.
Should you come across any compatibility problems with WordPress 2.1 (or WordPress 2.0.x) please leave a message in the Support forums, and I will try and fix it asap. In fact, if you come across any problems what-so-ever, leave me a message in the support forum and I will get back to you asap.

Dean, Thanks again for being so understanding. I felt bad when I posted and decided I should try to help myself more than I had, as I am sure your busy yourself.
In the interest of anyone else having this problem here is what I found. Ben Sherratt who made the Side bar Module says that it’s a known bug and told me to ask you if Redoable is built upon K2 0.9 . If so… he says that anyone with this issue can replace the /app/classes/sbm.php with one from their trunk located here:
http://kaytwo.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/app/classes/sbm.php
This should fix this issue if it is built upon K2 0.9
Sorry, first commit was truncated.
So once again:
first of all I’d like to say this is a very beautiful and nice theme. But some of my users/visitors are using Internet Explorer and do not see the rightcolumnheader div in the upper right corner. They also get an Javascript error. IE Version less than 7 are affected. IE 7 is ok.
Is this a bug or a feature? Maybe to get rid of the IE Users…

Hi,
I think i got the ratings function. Let me know if it is right. I still have a feeling that it does not present itself as good as it is on your site. Also let me know if you can let me know how to get the Post Info and Related Posts on Individual pages
Thanks
Sucharith
Hi Dean,
I have at last started working on your lovely theme and i too have the same problem as of Rich. I am a newbie. Can you please explain how it is done?
I have some issues:-
1. When i tried to install “wp-recent-links” then the site did die. Please let me know how this is done?
2. I am unable to configure the Articles page as well. Please do suggest me how it is done?
3. If i want to change the colors used in the site, where does this have to be done? Please do let me know if you can help me with the same.
Thanks
Sucharith

I see that the poster fixed this? Can you tell me where in the plugin I need to change it from div to span?
In postratings.php around line 50 you will find the the_ratings() function.
You will need to change each div to span in this function, so that it will display the post ratings inline.
Hope that helps.
Perfect that did it. Thanks a lot :)
I seem to have the worst luck! I added a module with an ampersand, and html module, and all the module tabs disappeared from the admin area, and they still display, but they are un changeable now. Any ideas, lol so sorry!!!
“contact & wishlists” I assume? Yeah the problem there is caused by a know K2 bug, which causes problems when you place an ampersand in the title of a module. As far as I know there are two ways to recover from this. You either need to dig into the database using something like phpMyAdmin, which your host may provide.…or you have to use the uninstall option, which should clear the module settings. You might also want to have a quick look at the K2 support forum http://getk2.com/forum/ to see if there are any other fixes for this.
Oh, sorry for the double post. I just remembered that down the first page on my site the last 3 or so posts the dat box seems to be edging over to the right and the text is there with the date but is larger and apparently the same color as that boxes background. just another fyi
I’ve just had a look, and after quick look at the code, my suggestion would be to check the post titled “getting it out”, which is the post before everything goes wierd. In WordPress go to the code view and make sure there isn’t an unnecessary code in there. From my quick inspection it appears there are a few div tags that haven’t been closed, which is possibly what is throwing things out of alignment.
I seem to have the worst luck!

The modules. When i add the calendar it just wont format right, check my link to see what i mean. it doesnt seem to matter which module i put below.
Damn, I thought I had found a solution to that, I will have to go back and check that again.
thanks for the speedy reply!!
The regular calendar works but the Calendar/Months does not.
I am using Gregarious and shall seek that option. I will also look into the header bit. I just want to do an image edit or something a bit more me than the standard title, plus I’d like my tagline to appear. it’s not a huge issue. Considering the scope of Redoable 1.1 I am more than impressed so…
again the quick response is appreciated, thank you
Hi! Very nice theme! I use in my site ;)
But the ratings post in home page, is displayed below the author name, and not right after the number of comments…
You can check my blog to see it… why happens this? are you using a different version?
I would like to have it displayed like in your blog… :)
Asta: I have moved discussion about this over to the support forum. Lets see if we can get this working for you.
http://www.deanjrobinson.com/support/comments.php?DiscussionID=6&page=1#Item_1
I’ve tried downloading it several times from different computers with no luck. My PHP had been giving me some problems so I reinstalled it, but that didn’t make any difference.
This is line nr. 113 in /theme.php:
while ( ($theme_file = $stylish_dir->read()) !== false ) {
In the whole it looks like this:
while ( ($theme_dir = $themes_dir->read()) !== false ) {
if ( is_dir($theme_root . ‘/’ . $theme_dir) && is_readable($theme_root . ‘/’ . $theme_dir) ) {
if ( $theme_dir{0} == ‘.’ || $theme_dir == ‘..’ || $theme_dir == ‘CVS’ )
continue;
$stylish_dir = @ dir($theme_root . ‘/’ . $theme_dir);
$found_stylesheet = false;
while ( ($theme_file = $stylish_dir->read()) !== false ) {
if ( $theme_file == ‘style.css’ ) {
$theme_files[] = $theme_dir . ‘/’ . $theme_file;
$found_stylesheet = true;
break;
}
If I take out the folder with your theme, from the themes folder, everything works fine, but goes wrong again once I place it there again. I upgraded to WP 2.1 yesterday with no severe problems.
Thanx, Ãsta
is there an option to disable the title altogether if i want to put an image instead? Or any advice as to such?
There isn’t an option for that at the moment. If you want to remove the header logo/text having a look in the header.php file is the place to start. I’ve had a few requests for this already, so I might look at putting a brief tutorial together, and I will add this option to the next release.
my digg this and share this show at the end of posts i’d like this to appear inline with the comments, etc as it does on your site here. again any advice?
They should appear inline by default. If you don’t want them at the end of each post, you will have to check your options for Gregarious (assuming thats what you’re using) and disable the post badge, and auto append options.
The Download link does not seem to work. Please let me know an alternative.
Menon & T: There is now an alternative link available. Enjoy.
Anyway.. I love the theme to pieces, but I have a terrible error; after downloading and c/p it to my themes, all I get in my themes site is:
“Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in c:\wordpress\wp-includes\theme.php on line 113″
Maybe your download was corrupted, have you tried downloading it again? Either that or there is come sort of compatibility problem. This is the first time an error like this has been reported.
The downloadable link is in comment nr. 2
