Well, i like Full Flash sites and i'm a Flash Developer. So i'll miss that. If the banners are in Flash is'nt Flash's or Adobe's fault, if you really care about that you could browse / surf the web in sites that doesnt have advertisings, but i think that will be difficult. Probably most of that sites are maintained with this advertisings =) .. I think you could open your mind a little bit in that aspect.

I think this is the most spot-on post on the subject.

And of course you don't need one. It's a toy. ;)

I agree that movie aspect ratios shouldn't dictate their design, however the ratio for the iPhone screen is a wider 3:2 compared to the iPad's 4:3, so if their goal was to allow for the best magnification of iPhone apps (which I doubt it was) then they've failed. I guess with 4:3 also being closer to square, it probably allows a better experience when rotating the device.

I see your point but why is that so different to video chatting on a laptop that isn't sitting on a desk, or using a mobile phone that has a front facing camera? Maybe Apple share your view and that's why they're yet to add a front facing camera to the iPhone.

I think you're spot on in this post.

However, I do think you're wrong about the form factor. The bezel seems absolutely necessary. You should be able to relax while holding it, not live in constant fear of accidentally touching the app you're using.

Also, as you said, the iPad isn't really a first rate video player, so why should they let movie aspect ratios dictate their design? This was likely the best shape in terms of magnifying the iPhone apps, ergonomics and beauty.

Re: Camera. Imagine the logistics / user experience if it isn't sitting in one of its docks. People will get seasick. Unless you stay very still and never touch the screen when you are video chatting, the poor schmuck on the other end will have a terrible experience.
